"It was my plan to savor this story throughout the course of a week.  Instead, I devoured it in a day and a half.  Lindo-Rice's style is fast and easy to digest, her characters intriguing and able to draw the reader deeply into their lives.  Readers may find themselves just as torn between brothers Michael and Keith as Gina.  In Lindo-Rice's capable hands, Gina comes off not as some floozie, but as a woman who cares deeply and has very good reasons to be attracted to both brothers. Likewise, readers also may or may not empathize with Colleen.  Should she be more accommodating of her husband and mother?  Should she have married so quickly after meeting her husband and falling in love?  In both cases, there's so much more going on that what appears on the surface.  No matter how readers feel about the circumstances in which these two friends find themselves, they will enjoy this inspirational story filled with multi-layered conflicts."

About the Book

Just out of college and completely alone in the world, Maggie Montgomery has one shot left to save her life from an abyss of poverty and hopelessness. Clinging to the last shred of fuel and hope, she arrives at the mansion of Texas billionaire Conrad Ayer. Although Maggie is clearly not what Mr. Ayer and his wife have in mind for a nanny, they agree to hire her temporarily until they can find someone more appropriate to fill the position. However, Maggie's whole world is about to be up-ended by two way-over-scheduled children and one incredibly handsome hired hand. As she struggles to fit into a world she was never made to fit in, Maggie wonders if she can ever learn to become a perfect version of herself so she can keep the job, or is she doomed to always be searching for a life she can never quite grasp? Keith Ayer despises his life. As the son of Texas billionaire Conrad Ayer and the fiance to a Senator from Texas' daughter, it looks great on the outside, but inside, he is dying. He would vastly prefer to manage and train his father's racehorses. However, everyone else thinks that is beneath him. He needs to get into industry and build on his father's success. Suffocating under the constrictions of his life, he meets Maggie, and she begins to teach him that wealth and power is not everything in this life. But can Keith defy the two most powerful men in Texas to follow his heart?

A Woman After David's Heart: A New Novella from Pat Simmons

What would keep a man, in his right mind, from asking a woman he’s attracted to on a first date? Valentine's Day

David Andersen doesn’t have a problem indulging in Valentine’s Day, per se, but not on a first date. Considering it was the love fest of the year, he didn’t want a woman to get any ideas that a wedding ring was forthcoming before he got a chance to know her. So he has no choice but to wait until the whole Valentine’s Day hoopla was over, then he would make his move on a sister in his church he can’t take his eyes off of.
For the past two years and counting, Valerie Hart hasn’t been the recipient of a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner invitation. To fill the void, Valerie keeps herself busy with God’s business, hoping the Lord will send her perfect mate soon. Unfortunately, with no prospects in sight, it looks like that won’t happen again this year.

A WOMAN AFTER DAVID'S HEART is a Valentine romance novella that can be enjoyed with or without a box of chocolates.

Question for Pat Simmons: What was your inspiration behind A Woman After David's Heart?
Answer: My inspiration behind this story was simple. To encourage single women that God hears their prayers and hasn’t forgotten about them. On the flip side, men’s own insecurities could cause them to lose a good thing. A WOMAN AFTER DAVID’S HEART is about God’s timing.

As a young woman in rural Jamaica, Dupree struggles to maintain a home for herself and the ailing aunt who is raising her after she was abandoned by her teenage mother. The effort of life with no electricity, running water, or money often leave Dupree battered and bruised, but she refuses to be defeated. She might have been forced to grow up too fast, but she will not succumb to the wiles of the devil, choosing instead to rely on the power of Almighty God to help her through.

After a brutal attack that takes her to hell and back, Dupree must reach for her inner strength once again to survive. Her journey for a better life leads her to Kingston, a city some people refer to as “Jamaica’s Sodom and Gomorrah.” There, she sees and experiences things beyond her imagination.  Dupree seeks comfort in the arms of her Prince Charming—but he might just be a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Caught up in a web of lies and betrayal, Dupree fights to save her life. In pure desperation, she seeks an answer to her question, “Are you there, God?” Will she be around to hear His response, or will it be too late?
