ISBN-10: 1601626754
ISBN-13: 978-1601626752

Back in May, Michelle’s Book Stop first introduced Born at Dawn and author, Nigeria Lockley to readers. With the release of Born at Dawn rapidly approaching (September 30, 2014), Nigeria is stopping by again to share some fun facts about herself and Born at Dawn. From inception to publication seven years have passed, so today Nigeria will be sharing seven fun facts about herself, her work, and an excerpt from Born at Dawn.
Seven Fun Facts about Nigeria Lockley
1. When writing at night I like to wear bold shades of lipstick (I don’t know why).
2. The first draft of Born at Dawn was written by hand.
3. I used to write poetry exclusively.
4. I don’t use outlines to write.
5. Before going natural I used to wear wigs.
6. I was once an extra on MTV Jams when Bill Bellamy was the host
7. Before heading to the Faith and Fiction Retreat in 2012 to pitch Born at Dawn someone stole the memory card containing the first four chapters of the book and I had to start all over again a month before the retreat. But God!!

Excerpt from Born at Dawn

The transition from sinner to saint wasn’t easy for Cynthia. The moment she walked in the door from her first trip to Mount Carmel, the devil was waiting to tempt her.
“Where you been all day?” Marvin huffed at her while she helped the boys out of their jackets.
“We went to church today, Daddy.” At nine years old, James was the official family reporter. He was still struggling with learning the difference between what should be uttered and what should not be. “You should have come with us. A friend of yours was there.”
Twelve-year-old Keith slapped James in the back of his head, trying to demonstrate his superiority. “He wasn’t there. He’s the pastor.”
“The pastor?” Marvin asked with his eyebrows scrunched together. “Did you take the kids to that joke of a church, Mount…?” Marvin snapped his fingers. “Mount…”
“Mount Carmel Community Church. It’s not a joke. It’s a lovely place, Marv,” Cynthia said resolutely. “Are you hungry?” She quickly tried to stave off the inevitable—Marvin’s monologue on the legitimacy of Pastor David’s ministry.
According to Marvin, Pastor David could not be trusted since he’d abandoned his street life and friendship with Marvin to pursue the ministry. Every time they walked past Mount Carmel or anyone mentioned it, Marvin had to trudge through the past.
“Of course I’m hungry. You left me here alone to fend for myself, and you know I can’t go on without two things.” Marvin wrapped his hands around her dime-sized waist, pulled her in close to his body and stared in her eyes. “I can’t go on without your loving.” He brushed back a few loose strands of Cynthia’s burgundy hair and planted a wet kiss on her lips. “And I certainly can’t make it without your cooking, girl.”
Cynthia could see through the act. She knew Marvin was trying to smooth whatever feathers his behavior had wrinkled the previous day, and it wasn’t working. It took every atom of Cynthia’s fragile being to cook Marvin’s food without spitting in it. Cynthia called it a small victory every time she was able to inflict some pain on Marvin unbeknownst to him, like the time she put ex-lax in his cupcakes.
Small victories were no longer satisfying. She wanted more. Peace or blood. Cynthia envisioned Marvin’s chiseled face bubbling upon contact with the olive oil that was now sizzling in the pan. “Peace, peace, think about peace. You just left church,” she chided under her breath.
That kept her from acting on her impulses and the voices of vengeance echoing in her head.

Welcome Esther Renee' Daniels Wright!

About The Author
Bestselling Author | Speaker | Empowerment Coach | Minister
Esther Renee' Daniels Wright, is a native of Beaumont, Texas and resides in Houston, Texas. An Associate minister at The Fountain of Praise, under the leadership of Senior Pastor Remus Wright and Co-Pastor Mia Wright.
The founder of Titus Works, Ministries, a vision I believe was downloaded specifically to me from God. This ministry has been created to spread the word freely to ages 25 and up. Titus based on the Word of God in Titus chapter 2, teaches us that the old shall be there to guide the young into a better life with Christ. This ministry strives to do this in a unique way. Through telephone conferences with powerful speakers and topics is keeping it real with people and God.
I have been blessed to counsel, motivate, inspire and encourage others that they too can be a living testimony. With all of that said the most important thing she would like for you to know about her, is she loves God with all of her heart and wants nothing more than for God to be pleased with everything she does.

Esther, Tell us about your book?
Have you been harboring unforgiveness, bitterness, and feelings of self-defeat? Is the guilt of your past hindering your plans for the future? Are you ready to overcome your hidden issues and walk victoriously and unashamed? This inspirational and effective book is a great resource for anyone ready to take their relationship with God to the next level. Through God’s Word. This book offers encouragement and hope for healing and freedom. This heartfelt work offers steps to assist in the journey through love and compassion.

How did you come up with idea for this book?
I was given this assignment to write a book and I thought to myself this has to be me saying this, surely God would not be telling me to write a book.  Plus what would I have to write about anyway, I am not an expert on anything, what could I possibly write that would inspire or help another human being.  So, I did what most people do, I disregarded the thought of this potential book.  But like any assignment that God gives me to do, it would not leave my spirit, so I began to pray about it.  Seeking God’s opinion on this book, I remember praying, “okay God, if this is truly what you want me to do, then would you at least give me the subject matter of this book?”  Not long after that it was revealed to me what God wanted to say to you through this book

What was the most difficult aspect of writing this book?
In order to write this book it meant writing about some things in my life, that were unpleasant. This of course was something I didn't want to do. The thought of knowing that people would have all my stuff in their hands was a sincere challenge. But God reminded me that not only does he want to free you but he wants to free me as well.

Why do you write?
I write now because I am so clear of the fact that God wants us to be healed in every area of our lives, He wants us to know what he said through David in Psalm 147 is real, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”  He wants to bless us with the freedom to experience the joy, peace and happiness that we so desperately desire to experience.

What valuable lessons do you want readers to learn from your book?
I would love for the reader to walk away with realizing the dirt under their rug needs to be exposed and swept clean in order that those experiences are no longer an embarrassment or hindrance to their progression, but rather a testimony of God’s faithfulness in my life. Allowing God’s faithfulness to manifest an experience of true freedom by facing fears, exposing them, taking action to overcome them and learn from them.  So, get ready to walk into your freedom.

Who are your favorite authors? I really enjoy reading Iyanla Vanzant

What book(s) are you reading now?

Lost and Found: Finding Hope in the Detours of Life by Sarah Jakes

What book(s) have most influenced your life?
The Purposed Driven Life, by Rick Warren was one of the first books I read when I got sober and it gave me the inspiration to find a path to not only just be sober, but to be sober with a purpose!

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
I would choose Iyanla Vanzant, being able to help others at a greater level with changing the behavior and thought process of others is an amazing gift. Not just a gift to have the ability to assist someone in that area, but a gift to the individual who is able to receive it.

Any advice to give to aspiring writers?
Listen to your inner voice allowing God to lead you in your writing, along with making a commitment to your writing. That book inside of you is a gift to those who God has waiting for you to complete it. Let Him use you!

Welcome Teresa Miller Burroughs!

About The Author
Author | Life Coach | Radio Host | CO-Pastor
Teresia Miller Burroughs, was born in Bayboro NC and now resides in Raleigh NC. She is a certified Life Coach and the Founder and CEO of Transformation Coaching, LLC. She also Co-Pastors Holy Transformation Empowerment Center in Raleigh NC with her husband Pastor Burnice Burroughs. Teresia leads women's seminars, tele-sessions and workshops. She is on an empowering mission to help women live the life they were destined to live.

Teresia, Tell us about your book?
“Polish your Diamond” is a book about teaching women from all walks of life to shine, teaching them how to stay polished and how to be the women they were called to be by changing their mindset to one that’s positive, confident and brighter in every area of life. Polish your diamond was written for the young and the older. My book will help women view themselves as God views them, a beautiful brilliant diamond!

How did you come up with idea for this book?
God instructed me to write this book to encourage and empower women using my life experiences and sharing them. In my life I have been through a lot of hard situations especially in relationships. In my book, I tell about some of those things, I remember being a woman that didn’t know who she was, didn’t think I was valuable or worth much at all, so I settled for what came my way. So God spoke to me to share with women and help them see themselves as I now see myself, a beautiful shining diamond!

What was the most difficult aspect of writing this book?
As I mentioned earlier, I have been through some rough bumps in life and as I was writing this book, my mind did go back to my past, the hurt and pain that I endured all because I saw myself way differently than God saw me, so I had some moments that I pondered on and said wow! Look at all you went through!!!! But as I continued to write I know now that all that I went through was to help some women out there that was just like me. So I will never get mad at anyone in my past or feel sorry for myself, im a new woman now and what I have been through has helped me to be stronger and more confident because during those times, I built a strong relationship with God. The past is over and I’m on an empowering mission to help fellow sisters come forth. No more crying and feeling sorry for myself, I’m a beautiful and I now help women to find their shine.

Why do you write?
I love putting my thoughts on paper, as I write, I just go on and on. God speaks and I write, it’s just so peaceful. As I was writing my book, I was set at a page a day, but as I set down in front of my computer, it just flowed so I went with it. I have so much to say and writing it all out helps me and it helps others. It’s my way of getting it all out and reloading more in. The more I write the more I get!

What valuable lessons do you want readers to learn from your book?
After reading my book, women will discover their inner brilliance, elevate their thinking, build their self-esteem and increase their value.

Who are your favorite authors? Joyce Meyer and Creflo Dollar

What book(s) are you reading now?
I’m reading the confident woman by Joyce Meyer and overcoming fear by Creflo Dollar

What books have most influenced your life?
I have to say that battlefield of the mind by Joyce Meyer has truly influenced my life in a great way, I know now that I can control my thoughts and in doing that I can control my life. I empowered now because I know that I can cast down any thoughts that is not of God, I don’t have to receive them if it doesn’t have to line up with what God has promised me. I can think on good things and have the victory in every area of my life!

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Joyce Myer, I can relate to her in so many ways, all her book were written in such a way that its well received and every time I read a book she has written I get something great out of it. She’s my mentor!

Any advice to give to aspiring writers?
The advice I would give to aspiring writers is to never give up, always press forward, just stay in constant fellowship with God and he will feed you everything you are to say as you write. As he speak, you write. Never give up! Never give up! Never give up on your dream of becoming a writer.

About The Book
Have you lost your shine? Or better yet do you ever remember shining? Do you need a push forward? Do you need to change your mindset? Do you find yourself always settling for less? Always taking the back seat?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, this book was written just for you and I want to let you know that God has not forgotten about you.

This book will help you see yourself as God sees you, a beautiful diamond! God instructed me to write this book to encourage and empower women from all walks of life to let you know that you are loved and of great value.

From the beginning to the end of Polish your Diamond you will see that you were created to shine brilliantly!

Polish your Diamond is guaranteed to create a better you! A positive you! A confident you! A fearless you!
