Book Review: Insert Groom Here

Insert Groom HereInsert Groom Here by K.M. Jackson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Eva and Aiden started out being sure of who they were and what they wanted. Then, their inexplicable chemistry took them on a new adventure that had me smiling, laughing and even a little misty-eyed. Aiden and Eva bought wanted different things in life until they realized that all they really needed and wanted was each other. It was a feel-good read that made my heart smile. K.M. Jackson has a unique voice. The title was creative, although the cover was just okay for me. I also think both of them were too strong willed to let things play out that long and what race was Aiden? I wondered that throughout the entire story. I hope Cori and Carter get a story. I definitely plan on reading more of her. 3.5 stars.

Book Review: Love A Little by Rhonda McKnight and Sherri Lewis

Love A Little (A Jordan Family Story)Love A Little by Rhonda McKnight
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What happens when you put two amazing storytellers together? You get a page-turner like Love a Little. I met Cree before in the Jordan series and I couldn't wait to get her story. I wasn't prepared for the fast-paced, crazy shenanigans in Love A Little. There is an airplane scene that was so vivid, that I felt every moment - I laughed, I squirmed, I rolled my eyes and I smiled with Cree during her moments of tenderness. I also met Wayne and David and both men had me feeling two very different reactions. A takeaway for me as a single woman is that what God has for you is yours. Time, Space and Circumstance cannot interfere with God plans. A satisfying conclusion had my heart smiling. Kudos to Rhonda and Sherri for their collaboration! I am now eagerly anticipating Dream A Little as I am given a sneak peek at the end of the book.

Book Review: I Found You by Lisa Jewell

I Found YouI Found You by Lisa Jewell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In I Found You, the story unfolds slowly. You are taken into the past and the future. About halfway through, you begin to connect the dots. You learn about Frank, Graham, Kirsty and Lily and how they are all connected. You meet an unlikely heroine, Alice, an imperfect mother-of-three who is perfect for Frank. The storyline of memory loss was believable and the redemption at the end was rewarding. Finished it in a day.

 About the Book

A young bride, a lonely single mother, and an amnesiac man of dubious origin lie at the heart of New York Times bestselling author Lisa Jewell’s next suspenseful drama that will appeal to fans of Liane Moriarty and Paula Hawkins.

In a windswept British seaside town, single mom Alice Lake finds a man sitting on the beach outside her house. He has no name, no jacket, and no idea how he got there. Against her better judgment, she invites him inside.

Meanwhile, in a suburb of London, twenty-one-year-old Lily Monrose has only been married for three weeks. When her new husband fails to come home from work one night she is left stranded in a new country where she knows no one. Then the police tell her that her husband never existed.

Twenty-three years earlier, Gray and Kirsty are teenagers on a summer holiday with their parents. Their annual trip to the quaint seaside town is passing by uneventfully, until an enigmatic young man starts paying extra attention to Kirsty. Something about him makes Gray uncomfortable—and it’s not just that he’s playing the role of protective older brother.

Two decades of secrets, a missing husband, and a man with no memory are at the heart of this brilliant new novel, filled with the “beautiful writing, believable characters, pacey narrative, and dark secrets” (London Daily Mail) that make Lisa Jewell so beloved by audiences on both sides of the Atlantic.

Book Review: Craving by Helen Hardt

Craving (Steel Brothers Saga, #1)Craving by Helen Hardt
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this read. I am interested in knowing more of Talon's story. The Steel men sounds like a dream. Talon is tormented and determined not to fall in love. But, he knows he can't let go of Jade. Jade meets a need he didn't know he had. They had some hot scenes so get ready for it. Craving ended on a cliffhanger though with more promised in the book Obsession. I wished it had wrapped up in this story.

About the Book

Ruth Jefferson is a labor and delivery nurse at a Connecticut hospital with more than twenty years' experience. During her shift, Ruth begins a routine checkup on a newborn, only to be told a few minutes later that she's been reassigned to another patient. The parents are white supremacists and don't want Ruth, who is African American, to touch their child. The hospital complies with their request, but the next day, the baby goes into cardiac distress while Ruth is alone in the nursery. Does she obey orders or does she intervene?

Ruth hesitates before performing CPR and, as a result, is charged with a serious crime. Kennedy McQuarrie, a white public defender, takes her case but gives unexpected advice: Kennedy insists that mentioning race in the courtroom is not a winning strategy. Conflicted by Kennedy's counsel, Ruth tries to keep life as normal as possible for her family—especially her teenage son—as the case becomes a media sensation. As the trial moves forward, Ruth and Kennedy must gain each other's trust, and come to see that what they've been taught their whole lives about others—and themselves—might be wrong.

With incredible empathy, intelligence, and candor, Jodi Picoult tackles race, privilege, prejudice, justice, and compassion—and doesn't offer easy answers. Small Great Things is a remarkable achievement from a writer at the top of her game.

Book Reviews: The Twilight Wife and Over the Edge

The Twilight WifeThe Twilight Wife by A.J. Banner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The storyline kept me enthralled until the end. It had a unique twist and nothing I guessed or imagined prepared me for the truth. Experiencing memory loss is scary and the additional drama the character when through made for a heart-pounding tale. Enjoyed it!

Over the Edge by Meredith Wild
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Over the Edge (Bridge, #3)Whew! Can we say hot? This is my first book from this author and the first I've read a story involving a love triangle like this. I had no idea when I began the unique love story I was about to read. It isn't easy finding your way in a powerful family. Olivia had overprotective brothers and watchful parents. She had to stand up for herself and the men she loved. I had no idea I would be rooting for them to make it, but that is what happens when you have an author gifted enough to tell the tale. If an author is able to take you out your comfort zone into a genre you wouldn't normally read and keep you glued, then kudos to that author!

About the Book
Olivia Bridge has always been a good girl—good grades, good friends, and a good job that her wealthy parents handed her. Desperate to carve out a life that is truly hers, Liv walks away from it all and takes on the challenge of helping her brothers open a chain of fitness centers in New York City. Just as she’s beginning to find her footing in a new place, she’s caught between two men who couldn’t be more determined to turn all her goodness inside out.

Will Donovan has the capital to make the Bridge brothers’ entrepreneurial dreams a reality. Taking their uptight sister to bed seems a reasonable perk for the risk. Liv is the smartest, sexiest prude Will’s ever met, and he can’t wait to break her down.

Life is too short for Ian Savo to play by anyone’s rules. Sharing women with his best friend isn’t anything new, so when Will introduces him to Liv, he can’t wait to get a taste. But falling for the same girl, or falling at all, was never in the plans...
