Author is giving away one autograph copy of Seven Days of Redemption

Genre: Devotional

Instead of giving you a formal third person description of myself, I’m going to be transparent. The same way I present myself in ministry, my book, my blog, the way I am in real life. I’m passionate, enlightening and formalities may dilute the true message of what I want to deliver. I grew up a small town girl who involuntarily learned a lot of things the hard way. My childhood was stolen at the tender age of four and after years of abuse I decided to liberate myself through accomplishments. My trophies and awards shined brightly but my soul grew darker as I started to adopt and carry out self-inflicted abuse. Fearing a return to my impoverished beginnings I became a serial perfectionist. If things weren’t flawless, I would perpetually beat myself up until I fixed it. As I was bringing down the hammer on myself for the umpteenth time, God grabbed my hand and I looked up to behold the Son of Glory. He showed me a new way. I learned that acceptance, forgiveness and grace is more effective in change than punishment. I would continue to fall, but instead of the whip, I used something a lot fiercer: the double-edged Word of God.

Having her innocence stolen at the age of four, she would grow up relentlessly betrayed, oppressed, and longing for unconditional love. In Seven Days of Redemption, the companion devotional to the inspirational memoir, “Cinderella’s Still Going to the Ball”, Dr. Shaunte’ McFarland gives an exclusive glimpse inside her process of healing and restoration. This devotional is a seven-day journey of strength, acceptance and grace. Endowing you with the irresistible unction to shout, I Am Redeemed!!

Crossreads Presents Book Blast and Giveaway

cover
No Other Choice: The Naomi Chronicles, Book One By Paula Rose Michelson
About the Book:
Naomi will be sent back! She left her family and all she held dear, traveled half way around the word while accompanying a blind, old grandmother because they promised to help her enter America and find her uncle. Instead they handed her over to immigration. What she does now, she does because there is no other choice! This is Naomi’s journey from adolescence to womanhood, from frightened isolation and captivity to the noble status of heiress. Trapped in a life where all who know her think her a saint, saddled with a mission and responsibility many would shirk from placed upon her shoulders, Naomi agrees to marry because that seems to be the easiest way to sidestep more issues. As timely as the immigration debate of today is, author, William Struse’s endorsement says, “Duty, sacrifice, and faith are carried in the arms of love by a courageous young woman, who rises above her own flaws to help others.”
Paula Rose Michelson0011
Paula Rose Michelson As a Messianic Jew, Paula Rose Michelson wanted to write about life, love, choices, and forgiveness. She researched what befell the Jews baptized into the Catholic faith to survive the Inquisition, and when she began to write The Naomi Chronicles, Naomi told her the story you are about to read. Because of her extensive background in recovery as a Chemical Dependency - Lifestyle Disorder Councilor, her work with The Rubicon Center, and as the founded LAMB Ministries in 1988, where she continues to mentor women suffering from trauma and abuse the way God mentored her, the author knows that though her heroine’s story is unique, Naomi’s issues of fear and hiding are universal, for they are seen in anyone who is masking their real pain. Paula Rose Michelson is the wife of Lutheran Pastor and Chosen People Field Missionary, Ron Michelson. The mother of two married daughters, and grandmother of seven grandchildren, when not involved in ministry, writing, speaking, or teaching the effective use of scripture, you will find Paula researching her next book or meeting with friends.

COMING SOON: You Get What You Pray For

As a fan of the New Days Divas series and the Always Divas series, I am highly anticipating the release of E. N. Joy's You Get What You Pray For. It comes your way, Jan. 27th

About the Book

Lorain has been a prisoner of secrets almost all of her life. At the age of thirteen, she'd managed to keep her pregnancy a secret, discarding the infant she'd given birth to and leaving it for dead. She also never revealed the fact that the baby's father was her middle school guidance counselor. Years later, Lorain's mother had finally met the love of her life, and Lorain couldn't find the courage to tell her mother that her new beau was the man who molested Lorain. To complicate matters, Lorain discovered that the baby she'd abandoned all those years ago had survived, and God had placed Lorain in the now adult child's life. It seemed liked the legacy of secrets had been passed on, too, as Lorain helped her daughter conceal the true details behind her own pregnancy.

Lorain has managed to maneuver the secrets and lies like a strategic game of chess, and is now living the lavish fairytale life of a doctor's wife. But even that is a lie. With the rug about to be pulled from underneath Lorain by the woman who raised her abandoned child, all Lorain prays for is that everything will end well. In this cycle of lies, secrets, shame, and guilt, will Lorain get what she prays for?

Excerpt

“How does a wretch like me go from the hood life to the good life?” Lorain had to stop and ask herself.
Growing up, Lorain had never been poor. The house she was raised in, though, teetered the property line of the good side of town and the bad side.  Even when her father left the home when she was ten years old, he still stayed current on child support.  Lorain’s mother kept a full-time job, never forcing Lorain to do without. So even though she might not have grown up having and getting everything she wanted, she’d always had enough. Now she had more than enough. And there were often times she felt she didn’t deserve it, but God had blessed her with it all, so obviously He felt she did deserve it. And who was she to argue with God?
Lorain now lives in a big, beautiful home on unmistakably the good side of town. She drives a fancy car, has beautiful children, a doctor for a husband, wears fine jewelry and travels the country with name brand luggage. Her new lifestyle has led her to ask herself the question, "Now with having everything I've ever prayed for in life, who needs God?"

Hot off the Presses: Lady Elect 2 by Nikita Lynette Nichols

I met Nikita Lynette Nichols when I read, Lady Elect. Lady Arykah was a memorable character who stayed with me. She was big, beautiful and bold. I love a woman with such confidence. Her love affair with Lance kept me turning the pages. Lady Elect 2 will be my first read for 2015!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

After a brutal rape, which caused a miscarriage, by a member of the church, Lady Arykah Miles-Howell returns to Freedom Temple Church of God In Christ stronger than ever. She reclaims her title as Lady Elect and soars in ministry next to her husband, Bishop Lance Howell. But Lady Arykah soon faces her toughest challenge yet, as the first lady of the church, when Bishop Lance’s ex-girlfriend, Angela Moore, appears from out of nowhere determined to rekindle a relationship with her long lost love and take Lady Arykah’s place in the church.

Lady Arykah must also carry the burdens of others. Adultery, betrayal, deceit, an unwed pregnancy and stupid church traditions are just a few of the issues that are dropped at Lady Arykah’s feet. But when she finds herself behind bars, staring at the four walls in a jail cell, Lady Arykah is left with no choice but to trust in her own faith in God as she tries to hold on to her marriage, her spiritual composure, and her spot on the front pew.

Fasten your seatbelts and get ready for a ride on an emotional rollercoaster. Lady Elect 2 – Arykah Reigns is filled with big loops, unexpected turns and plenty of drops that you won’t see coming.

My Top Five Reads for 2014

Like many Avid Readers, I set a yearly Reading Goal on Goodreads. I had to go on a reading binge toward the end, but I felt exultation when I saw I met my goal of 60 books!
60 books may not seem like a lot, but it is when you are also an author. I published four books this year, Walk A Straight Line, My Steps are Ordered, Color Blind and Unbound Hearts. I wrote two books, The Fall of the Prodigal and My Soul then Sings, which release next year, 2015.
Now, that I have met my goal, compiling a list of my top books is extremely challenging. Some books made me laugh or cry.
My Top Books are the ones that stay with me long after I've ended the last page.

5. Flawbulous by Shana Burton

Flawbulous is the final book in the Flawless series. In a series filled with so much drama, I was not sure what to expect in the conclusion. Like the previous books, the author did not disappoint.
Memorable Character: Desdemonda "I do admit I may have fanned a few flames."
Memorable Line: "If we claim to be serious about our Christianity yet don't correct even those closest to us when they fall, what does that say about us as Christians?" Angel.

2. What's Done in the Dark by ReShonda Tate Billingsley

Page by page, my nerves were ON EDGE. There was a time when I had to put the book down to BREATHE. A masterful tale with an unexpected ending.
Memorable Character: Greg!!!!!
Memorable Line: More like a memorable EVENT. That birthday party scene was something else.

1. More Than I Can Bear by E. N. Joy

I tore through this book in THREE HOURS. What can I say about Paige's story? Whew! Here is my review I posted on Amazon.

"E. N. Joy's second book in the Always Divas series had a tough act to follow. I Ain't Me No More is now on my all-time favorite list. I didn't know what to expect with this one. However, the second book is more than just the beautiful graphics on the cover.
Within the pages is the story of Paige, a woman who faced much to bear. I laughed. I cried. I was taken on an emotional roller coaster than ultimately ended with me knowing God is in charge and He knows best. This was a woman's spiritual journey of facing tough times and then looking back to discover God was there and He had her all along. Readers expect to see God's Anointing in this one. How much can we bear? We can bear as much as needed for God to get us where we need to be. May God continue to bless the work of her hand and I know some souls will be led to the Word of God after reading this."
